DIY Jewellery Restore: From Rust to Rose!
The DIY for restoring your jewellery
I have these for quite some time used it only a couple of
times and then i saw the color fading. This also happens to be my favorite pendant!
As it was quite drastic to how it was when my sister gifted
them to me, I picked up my skills :P
Here is what i did, to paint first i thought of using
acrylic paints but didn’t want the color to fade away again so i picked some nail
polish i had lying at home. Nail polish doesn’t wear away that easily compared
to fabric/acrylic paints (on metal)
The picture of transformation may not be as significant in
this picture as i chose a lighter tone of pink (the only one that was available
:P)
The steps for restoring were:
1. So here is what i did, i picked up the jewellery cleaned
with a tissue/cloth to get rid of the any dust settling on the jewellery. This
affects the nail polishing as it will create a lump or looks distorted.
2. I chose my own nail polish color which happens to be a light
paint color - Pink.
3. Then evenly spread out the nail polish with any brush. I
chose the nail polish brush itself which is more even and makes it easy to move
along the paint.
4. I did a couple of coats to brighten up the color from a lot
lighter to lighter here :)
5. Make sure you fill the gaps where the paint might not reach.
Tadaaa! And you are done with the pendant.
So start restoring your old jewellery to any color you like.
P.S. the jewellery pendant in this tutorial is just plain
metal.
