A little bit more...
When i am given a chance to experiment, especially on orders from my kid sister.. where they are absolutely no restrictions to imagination.. I created my first miniature mandap. A signature making... This is a ganapathi sitting on a "mini mandap. A very simple design i believe but took about two weeks to complete.. as i had to wait for the layers to dry to continue.. Like i said, I am very impatient to complete I think mostly because i am excited :P but I think this was a job well done.. A lot of time.. proved worth it. I also had it framed to not get it dusty or squashed. It made more sense to keep safe of the handmade than to not know where it went.. especially this one was a wedding gift so a framing was just the thing to keep it in the pile of the other gifts that the couple will receive.
This yellow (lantern) was a time pass project.. I started making something but ended up making something else. Although I dont know what this may be called YET but all i know is this looks really beautiful. Today, this is placed in front of a buddha statue and seems like a pretty thing hanging :P
This frame was when i was thinking of using the frames wisely but did not want to quill over it as I thought of making "Kusuduma" instead and adapted the idea onto the frame, i really liked this though,.. i still do :D
In my previous posts, you would have seen some referring to "Innovation", "making the best use of lean times".. thats exactly what got me started to do this.. actually i saw a shop in Chennai which had a setup like this in front of their shop and i was thinking of making one myself. This was done over 2-3 weeks again lot of time to dry. I have used basic paper bending, quilling and painting techniques in this. Its a simple method i believe but my second attempt at making a miniature set. This time however, i framed them myself using OHP sheets. Seemed pretty sweet and i didnt seal it completely for the simple reason that "what if someone wanted to see the details" obviously the framing is not as perfect as my ganapthi one but i think i will make a leaner edge one in a while.. This sits with me today :D
Let me know what you think of this post.
I would louve to know if there is anything you are interested in knowing or help me learn :)
