Only purpose: Repurpose!

All my life I have always looked in a way of resusing or repurposing or upcyling an item because wasting is not something i favour.

So here is something i started working on a couple of days ago. I started with a very different idea but it ended up like this.

Repurposed/ Upcyled items:
1. Sweet Box
2. Jewellery Box

Item needed:
1. Empty sweet box (this one was from Nilgris)
2. One side of a jewellery box (paper) or anything else you can repurpose to raise the depth of the painting.
3. Card stock
4. Scissors
5. Glue - I use Fabric Glue by Hobby Ideas
6. Paint or supplies required for whatever you choose to frame
7. OHP Sheet

1.1. The painting
Step 1: Card stock, scissors, paint, paint brush
I cut out half of a 30x30 card stock and painted it over.. I chose a very simple design. Once dried, it was ready to be added to the frame. Refer image 1.1.

1.2 Created the space and added OHP Sheet
Step 2: Sweet/ Saree box
Cut out the mid-section of the sweet or saree box that you choose to use fit the painting into. For the space that you have cut out, i used it as a second base for the painting itself to keep it sturdy and filled the empty space of the box using OHP Sheet. Refer image 1.2 and 1.3

1.3 Designing the box

Step 3: Designing the box.
To design the box, i just painted over the box using Fevicryl embroidery paint by just running over the existing design of the box. Refer image 1.3

Step 4: Tada!
1.4 Raise the level
When i placed the painting alone in the base of the box, it didn’t allow the light to penetrate and looked dark, hence i decked one side of a jewellery box that i had to raise the level (Refer image 1.4) and stuck on the painting. Once done, assemble all of them together. (Refer Image 1.5)

Painting framed in a box :)

1.5 Its done :)

I really like how this turned out probably I can add more details to the painting or the box next time I try something like this :)
